Lead Network Engineer

A leading Consumer Goods organisation in the Greater Bern area are undergoing a highly complex, global system migration across their IT Network Infrastructure. This professional will be responsible for leading highly complex projects on group wide level, across global Business Units to implement a new state-of-the-art Network Infrastructure to ensure safe, security, 24x7 operation.


  • Responsible for ensuring impeccable and cost-effective solutions using state-of-the-art and field-proven technologies, with a large portion of the systems serving mission-critical applications, which are subject to the highest security and availability requirements
  • Engineering and administration of the national MPLS-VPN Core and the Corporate Data Center network based on state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure as well as for highly available LAN infrastructures in all regions
  • Consulting, conception, design and engineering of sophisticated network and security solutions
  • Development of technical solution and implementation concepts as well as their presentation
  • Creating data center infrastructure strategies and systems architectures, including network, server, storage, database, output and security components, and enterprise ICT devices
  • Configuration / Release and Change Management throughout the life cycle
  • Create and maintain system documentation
  • Advising internal customers on network design


  • Computer scientist ETH / FH and / or CISCO certification (CCIE, CCNP) with several years of engineering and operating experience as network engineer
  • You have many years of experience in operating IT infrastructures and support organizations such as Service Desk & Operations Bridge
  • Broad technical Telecom knowledge and profound expertise in data and transport networks (IPv4 and IPv6, MPLS, VPN, WLAN, network security for example 802.1x, PKI, Radius). xWDM, SDH or xDSL knowledge is an advantage. They are familiar with security systems such as firewall, proxy or IDS / IPS. You also have knowledge of Unix / Linux systems and a scripting language
  • Experience in planning, design, construction and commissioning of network and security environments
  • Openness to new things and the willingness to familiarize yourself with other areas at a later date
  • Business proficient English is a must in both speaking and writing, French is a big advantage
